Full Seminary Program
For students looking to take a gap year, the Merkos Full Seminary program offers the ultimate Jewish learning-and-living experience. MerkosWomen is unique in that it is a close knit family style seminary where students feel like more like they are part of an extended family than enrolled in an institution. The staff and teachers have been carefully chosen to impart the most genuine and nurturing education to the women. As well as providing the wide variety of engaging and challenging daily classes, the seminary also values and nutures the overall positive growth of each and every student. A great deal of learning and development also takes place outside of the classroom. This occurs through the bonding between students in meaningful fabrengens, in uplifting niggun sessions, and around a glowing Shabbos table. Each and every student is given a taste of what it means to experience the beauty of Judaism.
Adding spice to the program throughout the year are four themed weeks featuring 'highlight programs' presented by MerkosWomen. Students participate in many practical workshops and in some cases are given a chance to give a class or workshop which assists students to build their confidence
The full seminary experience also encourages students to appreciate the importance of giving back to the community. Whether it’s helping shluchim over Pesach, working in Hebrew school or participating in our Mothers Enrichment program students come away with a deeply rewarding feeling of having made a difference in the lives of others.
On a lighter side the full seminary experience includes several fun trips throughout the year as bonding experiences for the girls. Whether it’s a trip to the stunning great Ocean Road, going to Ballarat to dig for gold, or even an exotic Shabbos with the interstate Shluchim, the girls come away with refreshing and memorable experiences.
All in all the full seminary experience is the opportunity of a lifetime designed to expose students to positive role models and equip students with the foundation for establishing their own home in the most enjoyable and meaningful way possible. Many students stay connected to merkos long after they have completed their one year experience
